Brand Management in Charities, myth or reality?

Brand Management in Charities, myth or reality?

I was reading my daily marketing digest earlier and read this article on Brand Management in Charities and found myself being taken back 20 years to the commercial sector. Then, as is the case now in the third sector, companies were waking up to the fact that a brand is not just a logo, but is every point that a person comes into contact with the company and as such there must be a consistent look, style and feel about the organisation.

This article is great as it starts to set out what charities can do, not just to manage their brand, but to control their budgets. The one are I would critique is that it only focuses on creative assets and does not give enough focus to values and engaging staff throughout the organisation. This is where the real value to a brand lies and without a team that are completely engaged in the brand there is little chance that the brand will be managed effectively. That’s said, it is a good article and I think worth reading.
